Food for the poor
Since 2010 we agreed with the hotel ‘Novotel Vilnius Centre’ that kitchen chefs of the hotel will make a soup for the poor 3 times per month and Maltesers will deliver it to a homeless shelter and the crisis center for victims of domestic violence in Vilnius.
In addition to that, in cooperation with ‘Food bank’, Maltesers daily collect expiring food products from supermarkets and give them to poor people. This food delivery project is organized in 8 cities of Lithuania. During a one-week period only in Vilnius, we distribute 46 sets of these products. The project is aimed both – to feed the poor and to reduce food waste. In addition to that, ‘Food bank’ also supports our elders and every Wednesday supply them around 10 kilograms of various food products.
We get a lot of non-perishable food products from the ‘Food bank’ when participating in their ‘Food product donation campaign’ twice a year. Later, these donated food products are distributed for those who need our support.
